Put a receiver where the ships are: coasts and ports, straits and chokepoints, busy rivers and inland waterways, and anywhere commercial shipping runs. That is where coverage counts most.
Ships broadcast their position constantly over AIS. A MastNode listens for those signals straight from the air, so anywhere with a clear view of water works: a coast, a harbour, or an inland waterway. The more vessels that pass within range, the more traffic it pulls in.
Every message is cryptographically signed the instant it is received, right at the receiver that caught it. The signature makes each record tamper-evident and traceable to its source, so spoofed and impossible positions are caught before they ever count.
Operators earn $MAST for the coverage they hold, measured hex by hex. The network rewards most where reception is scarce, so a well-placed receiver on an empty stretch of coast is worth more than another in a crowded port.
